First Draft Tuning Overrides Explained
Summary
First Draft seeks to reduce the number of keystrokes needed so a transcriptionist can edit documents as efficiently as possible. Administrators can adjust FD Tuning options according to requirements as needed in order to improve efficiency. Each Tuning option can be set for the entire Account, for a Facility, or for a specific Author. Default is Account level.
Steps:
- Go to the First Draft tab ⇒ Tuning sub-tab in the IMC.
- Click the Override Settings link at the top of the page.

- Choose the Facility from the drop-down menu.
- Choose an Author if needed. Author defaults to ALL. Any Override settings done now would apply to all Authors under the selected Facility.

- Click the box to enable the override option for that specific setting.

- Set any options you would to override at the selected Override level. Each tuning option has a corresponding KB article. Please see that article for details.

- Click Save Settings at the bottom.
Notes
- Fast Start Settings are available to every Account using First Draft. Professional Settings are only available to an Account with the Professional Edition of First Draft.
- Once this setting is changed and saved it will not modify existing drafts for jobs already on the platform. This setting change would be applied to new drafts dictated after you make the change.
- When a job comes in to the platform it gets flagged for First Draft based on the User (Author) + Doc Type + Dictation Source combination. Before the recording conversion process the duration of the job is not known yet, so the settings to exclude a job based on audio length are not taken into account. When the converted recording is saved to the database, it re-evaluates the duration-based rules and turns off the FD flag if appropriate.
