SSL/TLS Compatibility
Overview
SSL is the protocol that encrypts information between InfraWare servers and your web browser. It is common knowledge among network security professionals that earlier versions of SSL contain vulnerabilities that can be breached.
Solution
InfraWare is now requiring that all browsers connect to its servers utilizing TLS 1.0, 1.1 or 1.2 for encryption (TLS 1.2 is preferred). InfraWare no longer supports encryption by SSL 2.0 or 3.0.
Modern browsers have TLS support turned on by default, so there shouldn't be a noticeable change in your experience. A list of browsers and the encryption protocols that they support can be found here.
If you need to manually turn on TLS encryption on your browser:
- For Internet Explorer:
- Select Tools > Internet Options > Advanced tab
- Scroll down and checkmark TLS 1.2, and uncheck SSL 2.0 and 3.0
- Click OK
- For Chrome:
- Select Settings
- Scroll to the bottom and click 'Show Advanced Settings'
- Click on 'Change Proxy Settings'
- On the Internet Properties box, click the Advanced tab
- Scroll down and checkmark TLS 1.2, and uncheck SSL 2.0 and 3.0
- Click OK
