What is a First Draft Impostor?

Answer / Solution

First Draft Impostors Explained

What is an Imposter?

An impostor is anyone who dictates under another Author's ID.

  • Author dictating for multiple attending physicians
  • Accidental - Incorrect ID’s entered
  • Bulk upload of handheld recorder with wrong ID

Why Does it Matter?

  • Back-end Speech Recognition models are unique for each Author and each Author-DocType.
  • If the Author is changed at any point in the workflow for a job this constitutes an Impostor Scenario.
    • That job will not be used to build or contribute to an existing SR model.
    • If the speaker is not consistent it can “muddy the water” for the building of models for the final Author of a job.

Quantifying the Problem

  • If an impostor encounter the rare scenario of correcting an Author, you should be fine.
  • If the Author of a job is always changed from Dr. Jones to Dr. Smith, the final Author is Dr. Smith.
    • No models will be built for Dr. Jones, so Dr. Jones will never be enable for First Draft.
    • If Dr. Smith also dictates, those models will be corrupted by multiple speakers under one ID.

Eradicate the Problem

If you have an Impostor problem there are a few options you might consider:

  • Work with the customer to establish use of unique IDs for each Author-Speaker.
  • When possible, have those who dictate for others do so with their own ID, and then add the person for whom they are dictating as the “Attending Physician."  This clearly establishes who is speaking and who is “attending” for workflow and legality.  The Attending Physician can then be added to the template as well.

If you have approached Impostor scenarios in your workflow and are unable to resolve them by working with the customer, consider other options.

  • Modifying templates to meet customer needs and maintain Author ID integrity within InfraWare.
  • Specific Document Types for those authors.
  • Document ID Queue – KB424

Goals

  • One Speaker per Author ID
  • Consistent Author ID throughout the lifecycle of a job within InfraWare.
