How Do I Allow InfraWare and Norton 360 w/ SONAR to Co-exist
Summary
The Norton 360 w/SONAR anti-virus sees certain files as threats even though they provide no threat to your computer. When they see these files as a threat, they will remove the files and put them into an unusable state. The steps below will walk you through the changes necessary to turn off the SONAR portion of the Norton 360 suite. This will not turn off the anti-virus software itself, only the function that makes the ITC unusable. After the SONAR portion is turned off, the ITC will need to be uninstalled and reinstalled. This reinstall is necessary because of the way the SONAR software corrupts the ITC files.
Tasks
- Open Norton Antivirus Software
- Click Settings (at the top)
- Select the 'Auto-protect' tab
- On the line labeled "SONAR protection', click the green button to the left of 'ON' to turn it 'OFF'
- Select 'Permanent' in the duration pop-up
