ITC Technical Overview

Answer / Solution

InfraWare Transcription Client (ITC) Technical Overview

The InfraWare Transcription Client (ITC) is used by transcriptionists as the primary tool for keying and editing jobs. Since high speed and availability are critical for transcription, the ITC is installed locally on each end user’s computer. Work is checked-out from a centrally managed repository and securely downloaded via the Web to the ITC. As each job is completed, the results data, which is a transcribed report, is again securely transported back over the Web to the repository for review and distribution. This architecture allows transcriptionists to work at high “real time” speed while jobs are managed (i.e. downloaded and uploaded) in the background. Jobs can even be downloaded in sufficient quantities to allow offline work to proceed without Internet access.

ITC users can rest assured that their software meets and exceeds HIPAA regulations as they enjoy the security and reliability of a top-tier datacenter for contained, controlled communications. Access to PHI is password protected and role based.  Our architecture also includes automatic PHI removal from the transcriptionists' computers when the job moves to the next workflow step.

Like most InfraWare applications, the ITC is built using primarily Microsoft tools. Specifically, any computer running the ITC locally requires Microsoft .Net Framework 4.0 and Microsoft SQL Compact 4.0 or newer. Installation is managed using Microsoft ClickOnce deployment technology for installation. ClickOnce applications can be installed by non-administrator Windows users as long as all system requirements are met. During the setup of the ITC, the  ClickOnce deployment software will check the local machine to see if the software requirements are met and will attempt to install any missing components before installing InfraWare's ITC software.
