How can I trim a job that is too long?

Answer / Solution

How can I trim a job that is too long?

Solution

In the InfraWare Management Console (IMC) an Administrator can reduce the duration of an audio file by sending a command to truncate the file.   This is helpful when an Author forgets to hang-up from a telephone dictation.  This feature is intended to trim the dictation BEFORE it goes to the Transcriptionist, so they don't spend time verifying dictation that isn't there.

Requirements

  • Administrator login for the InfraWare Management Console (IMC).
  • The job must be in Ready for MT status.

Tasks:

  • Login using your administrator login and password
  • Navigate to the Queue tab, Admin Queue sub-tab.
  • Search for the job you would like to trim by job number or locate in the queue
  • Place a checkmark next to the job number of the job you would like to trim.
  • From the More Actions drop-down menu, choose Trim Dictation

  • Enter the number of minutes and seconds you would like to keep of the dictation.
  • Click the Trim button

All of the recording past the trim point will be discarded.

Note:  This does not change any platform billing for the job because the job has already been processed by the platform.
